This is a prime Florida fishing lake. The lake's striped bass population often provided 1st-rate surface action in the months of May through July, especially near the pilings. Watch for them and you can get the kinks out of your line in a hurry.
There are a number of fish camps and facilities around Lake George, particularly along the upper, northeastern portion of the lake. Another camp can be found at Volusia Bar on the South end, and another on the Pine Island facility is on the East side. The town of Crescent City is only 15 minutes East of Lake George and has many places to find overnight lodging.
